A Personal Invitation - Come Dye with Me at My Home!

I have a yearly dyeing tradition at my home in Graham, TX and I’d love for you to join me! Each May, I open my home studio for three and a half days of Shibori Indigo Dyeing, creative exchange with new friends and lots and lots of blue-tinged laughter and joy. Today’s post is about this class, so you’ll find lots more info below. But. . . . if it already sounds great, click right here to register now!!

This is not a typical Indigo Dyeing experience. We will go way beyond the concept of tie-dye and you’ll be amazed at what you will learn. The class is open to all skill levels, because there’s always more to learn!

We’ll go deep into stitching techniques for resists along with folding, clamping and tying techniques traditionally used in Shibori Indigo Dyeing. You’ll go home with multiple items you’ve dyed and a wealth of knowledge to use in your future dyeing. Students are always amazed at what they learn and what they can create during class!

Multiple Natural Indigo vats will be set up for our time together, so there’s plenty of room for lots of dyeing. Last year I had a covered patio built just for dye pots! It’s been a great addition to my studio and you’ll love working outdoors.

During class, you’ll be free to explore my dyeing kitchen and supplies, my collection of dyeing books and make use of my cutting, ironing and sewing area. It’s a rare opportunity to visit the inside world of a professional dyer and I love having the chance to share it with you!

Each day will begin with instruction, demonstration and samples of my own dyeing. I’ll be available all day, so there’s always plenty of time for questions!

The best part of any class is watching the magic appear in the pieces you and your fellow students have dyed.

The personal interactions that take place are priceless and you’ll go home with treasured friends as well as a life-long love for Shibori Indigo Dyeing. My heart sings just thinking about it!

You can bring your own fabrics and items to dye from home, but I’ll have many fabrics and scarf blanks ready for dyeing that you can buy along the way if you wish, too. You’ll bring minimal supplies with you and I’ll provide all the rest! Supplies you may want to take home for future dyeing will be for sale, also.

We’ll take a break for lunch on my deck for our three full days together and I’ll have lots of snacks, water, tea and coffee available for you. We may even decide to go out to dinner together one night. Beyond a class, it’s really more of a retreat and being together is part of the fun! There are a a couple of nice hotels in Graham TX within minutes of my home and often students will decide to share a room.
