Shibori/Indigo class at my studio May 11-14, 2022.

I have added a shibori/indigo class at my studio to my calendar.

Shibori & Indigo Dyeing Beyond Tie Dye...Finally at my studio again.

Class Description: We will set up and maintain multiple indigo vats for our dyeing. Debbie will delve deep into the stitching techniques to resist the dye. She will also teach the classic folding, clamping and tying techniques used in shibori Indigo dyeing. This is not a typical indigo dyeing experience; we will go way beyond that but it is open to all skill levels. The first day will be a half day starting at 1:30 so we can get the indigo vats prepared for the following days. The vats will all be organic natural vats.

Experience Level: Anyone who is interested in learning and sharing.Instructor

Biography: Debbie Maddy has studied the art of Shibori and indigo dyeing from notable artists in Japan, England and the United States. Her hand dyed fabrics are reproduced at a mill in Japan for Moda Fabrics. Debbie has been featured on national television as well as online classes. She hopes you will join her at her studio for a fun time of learning.

Students will provide the following:

Apron

Rubber gloves (long kitchen type) as well as disposable

Old clothes and shoes that you don’t mind being blue

Thimble if you use one

Items that you want to dye. Items will be for sale at the class also. If you are bringing things from home you will need to prepare them for dyeing. Instructions for scouring will be available.

Instructor will provide the following:

Everything to make and maintain the indigo vatsAll items necessary to do all of the techniques learned in class. Clamps, poles, rope, string, needles, threads etc.

Lunch on the 3 full days, water, tea and coffee. Snacks will also be provided.

Scarf blanks and many kinds of fabric to dye will be for sale.

Cost for all the class is $575 with a nonrefundable deposit of $75 to hold your place.

Class must be paid in full 30 days prior to the start of the class. Class will be limited to 12 participants.

Breakfast and dinner will be on your own.
