It will be an exciting year for me and hopefully you working in the indigo vats.
2022 is going to take me to several very exciting places to teach multi-day indigo classes. I love teaching shibori/indigo in classes that are 3 to 5 days long because I can teach so much more to my students. We start with making at least two types of indigo vats using all natural organic ingredients. Then I can teach numerous types of shibori from folding and clamping to pole wrapping and so many types of stitching. My students go away from the longer classes with a stronger knowledge of Shibori and Indigo dyeing.
Stitchology
My first long class will be at Stitchology in Albuquerque, New Mexico on
March 24, 2022 - Mar 26, 2022.
Melisa Hart is the owner and she is a wonderful young woman who has a lot going for her. She is very up on new and modern things, even though shibori is an ancient art form. At the same time I will be teaching there is a wonderful Indigo exhibit at Albuquerque Museum. The exhibit is called: Indelible Blue: Indigo Across the Globe. I for one am very excited to see this exhibit. Artists featured in the exhibition include Rowland Ricketts, Chinami Ricketts, Nikesha Breeze, Gasali Adeyemo, Laura Anderson Barbata, Eduardo Portillo & Mariá Eugenia Dávila, Hiroyuki Shindo, Yukiyo Kawano, Scott Sutton and more.
My Studio
My second multi day class will be May 11, 2022, 1:30 PM - May 14, 2022, at my studio in Graham, Texas. It will be 3 1/2 days of study and fun. This class is almost full but I will take names for a waiting list. Register here: 3 1/2 day class deposit.
Sanborn Mills Farm
May 30 - June 10 I will be teaching at Sanborn Mills Farm in Loudon, New Hampshire.
Where craft, learning, farming, and gardening meet in New Hampshire’s historic landscape.
This farm is in a beautiful location in New England. The textile studies is a new group of studies and it will be so much fun!! The first week is all about Shibori and indigo. The second week is optional and will be how to use the fabrics you made in the class to make quilts, home decor or garments.
