Mackinac Island Quilting Arts Retreat
If you're like me, some days you'd like to just step back in time and take life a little slower. This May you can do that with me at the fabulous Quilting Arts Retreat on Michigan's Mackinac Island!
Known as the best resort island in the Continental USA, beautiful Mackinac Island offers the slower pace of the horse and buggy days. Your day-to-day stress will float away as you step off the ferry into the relaxing no-car world that is Mackinac. What better place to immerse yourself in the magical art of Shibori Dyeing?!
The retreat will be held May 1st - 6th, 2023 at the luxurious Mission Point Resort on the sunrise side of the Island.
It's a gorgeous hotel with ample meeting space, beautiful rooms and several delicious options for dining. If you'd like, you can book a spa treatment for relaxing between classes!
We'll have this inspiring view nearby while we're exploring Shibori. I can hardly wait!
Although, I've visited Mackinac Island, this will be my first time teaching on the island and I am so excited! It is a real honor to be included as both a Shibori Dyeing teacher and a Quilting teacher at the well-known Quilting Arts Retreat. I'm really looking forward to sharing this amazing setting and marvelous opportunity with you!!
What I'm Teaching
My first class will be a 4-day Shirbori Dyeing Workshop - May 2nd - 5th. We will set up and maintain Organic Indigo vats to use as we dive deep into Shibori stitching resist, folding, clamping and other techniques. You'll go home with lots of samples of your own work to study and treasure. It's a learning experience that goes way beyond typical dyeing classes and all skill levels are welcome!
In my second class on May 6th, I will teach you how to make my Tranquility quilt. We'll re-visit basic quilting techniques and I'll have lots of tips and tricks for you. This stunning design is created from smaller blocks that turn into larger blocks. You're going to really have fun making it your own with your fabric choices!
What You Need to Know
- The retreat and classes fill quickly, so don't delay! Mission Point is a larger venue than past years, but I still wouldn't take my chances on getting a spot if I were you!!
